Mimizan

Contrary to the "societal" belief that the new charming, radiant and quite admirable track from everybody's favorite Zach Condon, "Mimizan", is an alluring, unique song about the shining city of Mimizan in France, Europe, I have found, after chilling with one of Condon's friends from Sante Fe High, that Zach dated a scandalous wench named Mimizan before he dropped out at 16. The whore tore out his heart, and with a zealous rage, crushed everything in the world that was bright to him. This song is actually written ironically- as the only way to express the utter darkness that plagues Condon's memory is with an ironic melody.

For those of you who havn't heard the track, you should know where to find it. If not- you don't deserve to hear it; Win Butler of the Arcade Fire called the ablum "Nearly mainstream".

Reattaching the twitch,

Your children are dead.

Have you seen those punks on the street?
They have been standing at the corner for an hour.
The bus stop is there, but they don't seem to be waiting for a bus.
I mean I've seen a couple buses, come by and stop, but those hooligans just stand there and stare at the bus drivers until they get uncomfortable, close their doors, and leave off.
It seems as if they dont even care.
And I know they are smoking cigarettes, I can see the packs rolled up in their sleeves.

The brand? Hell, nothing I recognize.
At least they are not blasting loud music, the things I hear on the radio these days frighten me.
Shit. Give me a Big Band and a jive suit anyday, I'll show those kids.

They're still standing there. I can see the cigarette butts from here, and they are starting to pile up. I swear they must be chain smoking worse than I used to.

Upon another look at their clothes, they aren't like anything I have really seen before. I don't know how I would describe them, but damn, I'm sure they're expensive.

I think I may chance a walk by see if I can't recon something on them, reminds me of my glory days.

Well it turns out they are playing music, could hear from those damned headphones soon as I got within a couple yards. It wasn't what I expected to hear though, you would think I'd be relieved, but it just gave me an unsettling feeling.

I was about to talk to one of them, sternly, to turn down their damned music or they'd go deaf, but just then one of them looked at me. It was his eyes, that were the worst, souless, black, and chilling right down to the toes. As soon as I caught a glance of those vacant orbs, I immediately turned away, but covered my horror by pretending I was stretching my neck. I hope they bought it.

I got back to the porch and thought better than staying out there where they might see me. I know I may seem rash, but these kids, if you can call them that, really get to me.

After heading inside I grabbed my binoculars and have been sitting behind the drapes trying to make sure they get any closer to my house. That was when I started taking notes. Thinking back on when I passed them, I know I felt something cold. I just hope they disperse soon, I don't think they've done anything illegal yet, but if they stand there much longer they may break the loitering limit of 6 hours. I just have to hold out a little while longer.

These kids, I hope they aren't your kids, truly seem dead.

Shameless Self Promotion

It would appear I have something in common with Rosewater. http://www.plebe-school.blogspot.com/ While we are on the subject is anyone else a Psychological Egoist?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I suppose I'll write something interesting and thought provoking because Mike didn't due to him being a member of a society by the name of "gay." Say there are two people, one standing on a train going at a constant speed, and the other standing on the gorund watching the train go by. The person on the train drops a rock, and sees it fall straight to the ground, timing it at x amount of seconds to get there. The person standing still, watching the train go by, sees the rock fall diagonally due to the momentum, also timing it at x amount of seconds to reach the ground. X will be the same for both people, but the distance travelled will be different, because from one view it travels in a curve, and one straight.

Okay, excuse my crappy drawing, but it's just simple trig. B represents the rock moving diagonally, A is it moving straight down. B is a longer distance, but they both take the same amount of TIME to reach the destination. Basically, HMPH!

Altest Towns of America

In the end, we all travel. But, I don't want to find myself somewhere disconsolately uncultured and political, but somewhere that I can believe to be urbane. I know most others are the same way. A little bit hip, and a little bit homey, these are places I wouldn't mind dying in:

Milford, Pennsylvania.

It's been a resort town since the guilded age. Sean Strub (a direct-mail and publishing entrepreneur who moved to Milford in 1997) and retired American Apparel executive Shane Mally give Milford a feeling of individuality. You can express here. The Delaware water gap is nearby aswell- Same place I tought Kyle Maki from Terra Cain how to roll ciggerettes. Although he smokes R.Styles now, same as me.

Yachats, Oregon.

The music scene here is comparable to that of Miskoka. I spent my time with Giselle in a Shamrock cabin while in Yachats. It's something I won't forget.

Washington D.C.

The people here are unforgettable. This place is also full of surprises- I met up with the guys from Tribal Sun and half of Health to smoke and sip Pabst before the end of the week.

These towns won't let you down. Look around and you'll find most of America wasted and uncouth.

Count off with love,
Brackett.
